Learning in your school grounds
School grounds are a wonderful resource to support learning outside the classroom. Children have an instinctive love of open space and using a familiar environment builds individual confidence in exploring and discovering the natural world they live in.
Programmes are designed for Primary School settings (Reception to KS2) to enable children to be involved in planning investigations, with lots of practical hand-on activities and exploration. They work individually or in small groups to meet set challenges, and we review enquiry questions through fun games and shared learning.
Popular school requests are whole term science investigations, where mixed aged groups of 15 children rotate through a weekly half day session to cover teacher PPA time. Objectives include: Investigating and observing the world around them; Recognising and exploring the characteristics of living things; Natural processes such as the changing seasons.
Supporting your outdoor learning journey
There are also many opportunities for whole school involvement through curriculum enrichment days, biodiversity audits for improving your outdoor spaces for wildlife, Trailblazer days and campaigns, such as National Tree Week.
I have a fantastic resource trunk packed with specialist equipment for pond dipping, invertebrate investigations, identification and spotter guides, games and props to make learning fun and engaging for everyone.
A pre-visit is included with all programme planning and bookings to ensure all sessions meet your learning goals and the needs of your group. Site and Activity Risk Assessments are provided.
